Second, most Americans don’t care all that much about many of the issues stressed by the Democrat candidates, e.g., inequality, the existence of very rich people:

Third, despite months of hearings, endless media coverage and the impeachment itself, Americans are cooling on the idea of removing Trump from office:

Ok, so Trump’s disapproval ratings are still higher. Then again, approval ratings aren’t the same thing as feeling this hugely flawed and possibly dangerous individual will deliver the goods on the issues one cares about. Apropos of that point, check out these poll results from November 2016:

Way back then, a lot of Americans knew Trump had serious character issues. And yet they voted for him.
